no backdrop. It's ll in the lighting. Take your flash off your camera and a whole new world will open up. If you are not allowing any light to hit the background, it will be black. With this photo, the creamer is sitting on my ceramic stove top. I did use a Adobe Lightroom to crisp up the reflection and a vignette to blacken the background.
