212 of 365 Lily

The only photo I took today.... thank goodness!!

Trying not to lift my camera (it weighs a lot). It seems I have developed tennis elbow (aka camera elbow) and the Physio says it will get worse before it gets better. I am in for several weeks of painful therapy but I plan to get this fixed as soon as possible so I have to stay faithful to the painful stretching exercises. One more wedding and one more family shoot and then I am on camera rest. :) sort of. That will be the day that I put my camera down for more then 24 hours. :)

Well isn't this just a face you want to kiss? I had to resist. This is Sam and I spent an hour with him and his family today. What a sweet little guy. Sam just turned one.

209 of 365 Miss Norah

I have been very busy lately taking courses in Photoshop CS5 and working thru a backlog of over 2000 photos for customers.... and I have another wedding tomorrow and a family shoot on Sunday. Oh dear! There are not enough hours in the week, but I did take a break from it all to babysit the grand girls for a few hours today, We went to the park, the wading pool and hung out at their house. Miss Norah is growing up and so full of joy - loving it.

Here is the official 365 -Miss Norah adoring her big sister Eva.
and being as sweet as can be. :)

Big sister Eva smelling the flowers on our walk home today. It was shortly after this that she decided that Grandma should carry her.... and push Norah in the stroller. :)

208 of 365 Flowers

Because I just didn't have time or inspiration to take a photo of anything else. And David wouldn't stop to let me take a photo of some canola. And I can't blame him. After 7 hours in the car would you stop?

207 of 365 Ahi Tuna

I know, more food. The only photo I took today. But when we visit Mark in Winnipeg we do what we all love to do - eat out. :) and David, Mark and I love sushi - and ahi tuna. The three of us would do just fine in Hawaii living off the fresh fish. It was good to catch up with Mark, hear more about his adventures in the Netherlands and just spend time with him.
We head home tomorrow. Perhaps I will get a photo of the bright yellow canola fields that are now blooming across the prairies.

206 of 365 Carbones

Great coal fired Pizza in a new restaurant in Winnipeg! We are here on business but also to see Mark who returned this afternoon from The Netherlands where he walked 160 km over 4 days with 35 pounds of gear on his back with the Canadian Armed Forces. A great accomplishment. Yeah Mark. Glad to have you home.
We went to Carbones tonight for fabulous pizza.

He brought me back tulips for the garden next spring. :)

205 of 365 Destination Family Photography

Off to Madge Lake for this family shoot and what a beautiful family they were. Thoroughly enjoyed my few hours with them. We did get all the  regular posed photos, but the shots in the boat were some of my favourites.

204 of 365 Miss Eva

Went for lunch with Miss Eva, her sister and her Mom today. Eva got pretty excited with my lens cap. I think she is going to be a Canon girl!

The last thing I wanted to do is pick up my camera today after shooting about 1200 shots yesterday. I have developed tennis elbow (so says the PT). I call it camera elbow though. :)

The 365 must go on!
Another photo shoot tomorrow.

203 of 365 Saskatoon Wedding

It has been a long 11 hour day and my feet are a tad sore (as well as my right arm and back ) Hazards of the trade. :)
My computer is chugging away trying to put the days work on to 2 external hard drives.  I have not uploaded even half the photos from today and it is 3am. This could take a while.
So here is one photo from today's wedding shoot from the first batch. My bride, Kristin was absolutely stunning! Her veil was incredible and so we had to really showcase it with this shot.
Stay tuned I have lots more to come but I am off to Yorkton for more shoots this week.

Photo inspired by renowned wedding photographer Jerry Ghionis

btw except for cropping and toning this is straight out of camera. I plan to do some special editing to this soon.

Please, feel free to leave me a comment if you like this photograph.

202 of 365 Unique

Rehearsal tonight for a wedding shoot tomorrow and these are the programs. Aren't they unique? What a fun idea. Under each little flap is a bit of information on who is who and when it is completely opened up you read the order of service. I haven't seen one of these for a few years. We used to make them all the time.... I wonder if I remember how?   :)

201 of 365 Thankful

Isn't summer wonderful?

My sweetheart came home from Yorkton tonight. Supper on the deck. Thankful for all He provides. Praying for our children I realized that all four are doing or experiencing out of the 'ordinary' events today. Two on extra special excursions (Europe and Winnipeg),  one just had a baby and another experienced yet another basement flood today that is bringing great trial. Taking our petitions to Him who is able. Thankful that He alone is in control.

200 of 365 It's a Girl!

Yes, our fourth grand daughter was born yesterday.
Jane Verity Cortens was 9 pounds even and all are doing well. They live on the west coast so we won't get out to meet her until the end of August. And my son does not allow internet photos... which is why you never see her older sister..... so this is the best I could do. :)

197 of 365 The Backyard

The back and font yard transformation is finished, well except for tomorrow morning when the garden doors replace the old sliding doors. Then it will be done and I will not be inviting any tradespeople to our home for a while... unless they are coming for supper and not to work. Renos are exciting but can be VERY frustrating.
Anyways, no rants here just happy the yard is properly graded (we will know for sure next spring) the sprinkler system appears to give us proper coverage. The patio bricks look wonderful and now support the bottom step of the deck all the way around the deck and the walkway into the backyard is expanded and clear of obstacles.
Feeling thankful!

196 of 365 Saskatoon Graduate

This is Kara.
Isn't she just gorgeous?
I can't wait to start working through all the photos of Kara and her family. We had such a fun time. They wanted the usual glamourous grads, but after that they were looking for something..... um, journalistic.

I think we got it.
:)

195 of 365 David

I love this man. He is willing to leave a football game with the Blue Bombers playing and come outside so I can work with the settings on my speedlite transmitter ST-E2 to trigger my off camera flash and allow a shutter speed of greeter then 200, overpowering ambient light. Something I hadn't figured out until I watched a video tonight.
So I am ready for some cool shots at my grad shoot tomorrow. :)

I also learned a little more about the settings on my flash.

190 of 365 Eva Fun!

Sigh. I just love watching Eva so delighted with life. Not a care in the world. And this is how it should be for every 2 year old. Isn't playing in grandma's grassless, mud filled front yard while the sprinkler is on just the most wonderful thing? She was a wet muddy mess and it didn't matter. We were having fun. Yes I got wet too.
More photos on the blog - which really, if you like this one, are worth taking a look at.

I am tagging this one "wedding day" (for future reference)

189 of 365 Two Shoots

I had two shoots today - one scheduled with a lovely family and one not scheduled with the Saskatoon Fire Department... read on.

The family shoot will be my official 365 of the day.

This is Sam. Isn't she a beauty? This morning I photographed Samantha and her parents and baby brother along with her aunt and uncle and grandma & grandpa :)
It took a lot of energy and silly sounds to get a smile out of her though. :)

The second shoot was a house fire - yes another house fire in our neighbourhood and Saskatoon's finest were there to get it under control. I missed photos of the flames but I did get photos of the firemen. It was a hot day today and dangerously hot for these firefighters in their gear in a building so hot it burned the side of the neighbouring house and melted the netting on the trampoline in the back yard.

These guys looked exhausted when they came out of that house, peeled off layers of heavy fire gear and doused themselves in cool water.
I will say it again. We don't pay them enough!!

So, as it happens the fire department photographer let me into the backyard to get a few photos. Nice!
Gosh I love photography! :)

Busy Day!!

185 of 365 Front Yard

Feeling completely photographically uninspired today. Working at the health region again this week, so here is a photo of the mess in our front yard.

We are hoping it looks better by the weekend.
Stay tuned.
