30/365 Winter

It was pretty miserable shovelling snow in that wind today but he got the driveway, walkway and the front sidewalk to the mailboxes done.

Yes, more flowers because one day soon they will no longer be in their prime.

Thoroughly enjoying these flowers. It is too bad they don't last longer.

25/365 Flowers

I continue to be royally spoiled on the first day of my retirement. A beautiful bouquet with the most gorgeous yellow roses was hand delivered by our good friend Ken.

24/365 Retired!

It was a pretty sweet day that started this morning with the delivery of a dozen roses from my sweetheart! Then my close co-worker and 'partner in crime'Crystal gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and Mandy my right hand (ho keeps me out of trouble) gave me a necklace pendant of an angel wing and chocolate.
But then I went out for lunch with 25 of my co-workers to celebrate which was followed by  cake in the lunchroom that afternoon. The day was filled with kind words, gifts, hugs and good memories.
I feel so blessed to have had this wonderful experience working with such a dedicated and caring group of people.

22/365 Flower Girl

There cannot be too many flowers in Grandma's tickle trunk.
I just asked her to look out the window. She is very good at giving me serious looks these days.

The girls and I are growing crystals and so we needed a photo to archive this science fun.

20/365 Girls

Saturday morning is pancake breakfast at G&G's and no one wants to miss Grandpa Pancakes!!
Then they are off and playing - caught them all on the stairs with that beautiful morning light streaming in. One of my favourite places to capture them. :)

19/365 Succulants

I haven't had a live plant in the house for years, mostly because our old house had very little natural light. It was dark and most of the windows were on the north side of the house. And I do not have a green thumb. But mostly I blamed the lack of light.
In the new house we have oodles of natural light everywhere. So in anticipation of beautiful tropical greenery I bought several new houseplants last September. They all looked so promising but alas, they are fading rapidly. Too much water? Not enough water? Is it these energy efficient windows?
I think I just don't have a green thumb and likely never will.
When the last one bites the dust I am switching to fake plants. I will leave my gardening skills to the exterior of the house where I seem to have much more success.

18/365 Scientists

The girls just couldn't wait until after school today when we finally opened the crystal set and started making crystals. Science is so wonderful and they really seemed to get into it. The crystals are busy growing as I type and we are all excited to see how they turn out.

16/365 Reading Corner

A good lamp and a good book in a comfortable chair by the fireplace. Spending more time here is on the retirement list.

15/365 Addie's Friend

This little guy doesn't have a name but he hangs out with Addie on the buffet. I suppose I should name hime. How about Fast? ;)

This is a pretty nice way to enjoy a burger.

10/365 Hospitality

You can't beat the cheerful service of the Mexican people. Jose, Manuel, Jesus, Ivan, Maya, Toledo, Dennys, Estaban..... we are being treated so very well.

8/365 Breakfast

We had breakfast on our private Lanai this morning with the morning sun streaming in. It was a pretty nice way to start the day.

6/365 Warmth

We are feeling pretty blessed to be able to leave freezing temperature and have an evening stroll back to our room in warm tropical air. Unfortunately I have to deal with a miserable cold! I am thankful for this moist ocean air and no commitments for the next week.
We are both thinking of our son Paul tonight as he celebrates his birthday. We are feeling very proud of the fine young man, husband and father he has become.

5/365 Reading List

Finally - we are running away for a week of R&R. This is what David plans to do for a week.
I have a couple of hefty magazines on B&W and Outdoor photography plus a little Farley Mowat.

4/365 Addie

This is Addie. She is a rather large Angel fish made of clay and driftwood. She was the first piece of "art" we bought for the new house about 6 months before we moved so we named her after the old house. She is on the dining room buffet with a large blue ocean canvas behind her.

3/365 Deer

I am resurrecting the 365 since I am retiring from the "day" job this month. I am pretty excited to take on this challenge again. Expect grandkids and wildlife. And now that we are in the new house I can start doing a whole bunch of macros at 11:59 pm when I remember I need a 365 for the day. I had every nook and cranny in the old house archived.

2/365 Puzzles

Creative Eva wanted to make her own puzzle. She drew a beautiful summer scene, glued it to some cardboard and then cut it into squares. It was a bit of a challenge since all the pieces were the same shape but it was a lot of fun. She was very pleased with the end results and so were we!
