56/365 Complicated Fire Hydrant

This fire hydrant has garnered a lot of attention in the past two weeks. It is located just outside my office window and every day I watch various crews, trucks, front end loaders and tools working on it. Last week they were working in frigid minus 20 C temps - there is a lot of frozen water on the ground. This fire hydrant is shortly to become the only source of clean water for Aspen Ridge Phase 2 which has been without safe drinking and washing water since it was discovered early January that their water supply was contaminated. And apparently the problem won't be fixed until "spring". Somehow being told we can have free access to City facilities like the field house to shower would not be very consoling to me. It has been 2 months already and still 25 homes do not have safe water even for bathing.

We are thankful we are on the other side of this fire hydrant and continue to enjoy the luxury of safe drinking and washing water.

54/365 Light

I haven't picked up the camera all day so today's 365 is a last minute abstract of the chandelier that hangs in the stairwell.

50/365 Winter

I was hoping to photograph some deer, or perhaps a coyote or even a bird, but the deer spotted me and bolted as did the prairie chicken, so an hours walk netted me this.

I like the simplicity of it.
Your thoughts?

47/365 Framer

I really have to admire a person who spends 8 hrs of the day in the freezing temperatures and wind working hard.  I have been watching this house come together all week.
Makes me really appreciate a desk job.

43/365 Good Morning Aspen Ridge

Taken from my office window this morning... And thank you to my husband for pointing out that beautiful sunrise and moon as he left for work or I would have missed it.

42/365 But I Like It Too

We planted several varieties of spruce last fall and we love the trees. Unfortunately the deer have found them and like them as well. Two mugo pines were eaten to the ground and two pyramidal cedars had a significant trimming. We have learned that deer do not like Irish Spring soap. We are hoping our clean smelling back yard will now keep them away. The coyotes are another story. They may be after the rabbits that frequent the back yard as well.

It's a lame photo today taken from my bedroom window.  I have a miserable head cold along with ear aches and plugged sinuses and it is days like these that really make me dislike the 365. But I took a photo.  So there.

37/365 Salmon

Since I am trying to follow the 365 rules this year, you are getting food with my apologies because this is as much creativity as I could muster this evening.
This is sesame encrusted Salmon with a wonderful Japanese sauce. It was actually quite delicious!

32/365 Yellow Rose

The symbol of friendship. Enjoying these beautiful flowers everyday and amazed at their beauty.
Hurry up spring. I need to get my hands in some soil and get this brand new garden of mine happening. I planed three new rose bushes last fall.
