179/365 CANADA wind GOLD beats USA 3-2 mens hockey

Now isn't that worthy of a celebration!
That overtime goal certainly changed the noise level in our family room!

178/365 I need a new camera

Out and about with my handsome Sherpa checking out a few venues for some photo dates I have coming up.
Testing my camera's ability to handle low light without a flash or tripod.
It failed.
Miserably!
I love the Olympus E30 - it is a fabulous camera especially for outdoor portraits. But it just cannot handle ISO over 800.
Starting to save for the Nikon D700. and a few lenses. sigh.....

173/365 chocolate milkshakes

His and Her chocolate milkshakes....... blame me.
He made a wonderful salad for the two of us. Complete with salmon and hard boiled eggs.

I talked him into a chocolate milkshake.

But it was sooo good.

Even with minus 26C coming tonight.

172/365 Red is for Canada

Watching the Canada vs USA game?
I am!
GO Canada...
Okay, I am not actually watching.  But I am watching vicariously through my husband. I am eating popcorn and drinking something red. That has to count for something!
Go Canada...oh dear the USA is leading 2:1.

171/365 LaBamba

You know it is authentic Mexican when the customers are all speaking Spanish and the cook is the owners mother.

We have eaten here a few times and it is always so good.
Have you eaten at La Bamba in Saskatoon?

170/365 KIWI

I am 47 % through my 365 year..... thought you would like to know. :)
The best part of today's 365 was getting to eat it when I was finished.
I was playing with some off camera lighting technique which allowed me to take this photo in a daylight lit room and yet have the background black. Only the kiwi is lit. And a few of those cute little hairs. i think I have to do this again but get more of the kiwi hairs.
Any thoughts?

169/365 Corner Gas

Most evenings my sweetheart and I arrive home from work, make supper together and then watch a  few commercial free episodes of Corner Gas. It's a wonderful routine we love. And then he channel hops and I get on my computer and learn photography. Read, read, read. You wold think I would have enough after being on the computer all day, but the subject if far more fascinating to me.

We do the dishes together some time during the evening when we need to get up and stretch.
This past Christmas Allison gave us Episode six.

168/365 Mexican Water Jug

Brought back this hand painted memento of our week away in Mexico.
Two lovebirds under the palm trees... I thought it a very appropriate reminder.

167/365 Liars Dice

A classic bluffing game...
Our friend Ken is really good at it..... so is my husband. I am not. But then I can't play poker either.

165/365 Valentine

Not a great photo - I liked the picture of the Mojito better. But since it is Valentines Day, I thought it best to post this one. It is the two of us having Tiremisu (sp?) for dessert after our Valentines meal. It was fun. And this is the first photo I have taken with my arm outstretched - not looking through the viewfinder or at the back of the camera - which I find very.... well not in good photo etiquette shall we say - but I got the shot. Or was it just luck???? I mean talk about lack of composure!
But here we are - madly in love after 30+ years.
Don't know what I would do without this guy in my life. Hopelessly attached to each other and wouldn't have it any other way.
Every day is Valentines day at our house. :)

164/365 Wine Glass

Had a glass of wine as we celebrated a friends birthday at Calories today. Really - just one glass.
But the glass was as big as the bottle!
Lest you think I am a wino, the last glass of wine I had also made the 365 - and that was over a week ago.

163/365 Hoar Frost

Another one of those shots I saw on the drive home from work.
I saw it from the corner of Preston and College - way in the distance  - in Sutherland.
Beautiful tall grand fir trees still covered in the mornings hoar frost, the late day sun on them. I drove right to them, pulled off the road and marveled at their beauty.
Yes, this was the photo of the day.

162/365 soup spoon

Now isn't that the coolest soup spoon my co-worker brought to work?
And it actually worked very well.
We all agreed that it could double as a shoe horn too!

161/365 More sweet Word

It must be Wednesday again, but this week it is marble chocolate cheesecake, again courtesy of Ken.
The candle is in celebration of Heather's birthday!

159/365 dishes

I'd much rather play with my macro lens and Photoshop than empty the dishwasher.

158/365 Crisp morning.

158 days of taking a photo a day. There were some days that I took 300 photos. One day I took over 1000 photos in the day, but that was a wedding shoot. :)
Most days I have taken about 10 and some days I have taken just one - like today. We were on our way to church this morning and I stepped out on the driveway to feel the sun so strong and bright~ Promises that spring will come and the earth will tilt back in our favour and yes one day my tulips will come up again.

156/365 wine

Friday night after a very long week. Oh it has been such a busy week. So it was a real treat to walk in the door tonight and be greeted by my sweetheart and a glass of Pinot Gris. Yes it was just perfect.
That is the cold, snow filled backyard in the reflection in the glass. But it was warm inside.

155/365 Photoshop for Dummies

Why is it I feel so complelled to buy about six of these books. Somehow I think that just forking out the money is all I have to do and somehow by osmosis I will be an expert in Photoshop and Lightroom. As if owning them is all that is necessary.

But I know that is not true because last fall I purchased Scott Kelby's "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 for Digital Photographers" A fabulous book and a very expensive one too. So far I am only about 40 pages into it. I have owned it for 6 months and I am still a "Dummy"

It is not a quick read by any stretch. It is a workbook and best read with the keyboard under hand and Lightroom on the screen. So I am forbidding myself any more of these books until I know Lightroom almost as well as Scott Kelby the guru of everything Adobe makes.

Okay, until I finish the book.

So I bought two photography magazines....somehow I have no trouble devouring them in an evening.

153/365 winter lily

There is something beautiful about my dead lily stocks, their bulbs keeping warm underground... waiting for the spring sun to warm them up so they can show their splendor again.
