These are the American Coot. Not a duck,  but they sure act like one. They have these bright white beaks and beady red eyes and they stick together.

After a sleepless night and a day of airports, security and customs and long car rental line ups, this was a welcoming view from our condo in Palm Springs. Looking forward to long walks, lazy afternoons reading and snoozing and romantic suppers with my sweetheart.

Our supper guest brought these the beautiful Iris the other evening and they have opened and are stunning. I am enjoying them very much.

72/365 Olaf

Olaf came for a visit in the back yard after lots of work in the snow. What a joy to be able to play outside in the snow finally! After 6 weeks of bitter cold it is starting to feel like spring!!
They came in soaking wet. I love those spring days when everything goes in the dryer while you warm up with hot chocolate and cinnamon toast. :) Reminds me of my childhood except all our clothes went on the radiators to dry and get toasty warm. :) Building good memories to last a lifetime.

Love setting the table for guests. And glad I pulled out my macro lens yesterday. I haven't used it in a while and it needs to be used more. :)

70/365 Jesus Heals the Paralytic

It is almost 10 pm and I haven't picked up my camera yet today. Since I spent part of the day picking out this Sunday's worship songs, I decided to take a photo of the scripture that will be preached on this Sunday, Mark 2:1-12.  I always love a photo of the Word.

68/365 Oldemor's Earrings

We took the girls out for breakfast and Norah was wearing my Mom's clip on earrings. We let them choose something from her jewelry drawer last fall when we visited shortly after her death.
Oldemor (great grandmother in Norwegian) would have been thrilled to see you wearing one of her favorite earrings, Norah.

I accompanied Eva's class to the Remai Modern Art Gallery today. It was interesting....

66/365 Resident Writer

Eva is so excited to come over these days..... why? Because she is in the midst of writing a story about twin girls and her head is busting with ideas and words and she can't wait to add them to her story that sits on the shelf in my office. Here she is perched on the stair ledge writing..... 5 seconds after getting in the door. Her Mom loved to write stories and her Grandpa tells me he did too. :)

64/365 After School Snacks

It never fails when I pick the girls up from school..... "Did you bring a snack?"is shortly followed by "Can we go to your house?"

So cinnamon toast - 4 pieces! and hot chocolate with whipping cream were shortly devoured. This was followed by three rounds of Sleeping Queens. We each won a round - how perfect is that?

63/365 Pineapple Chutney

We are having Mahi Mahi fish tonight so that really called for me turning that pineapple on the counter into a delicious sweet and spicy chutney to top the Mahi Mahi. And yes, the recipe called for 1/4 cup of golden rum and I found some at the very back of the cupboard...I have no idea how long it has been there but there was exactly 1/4 cup left in the bottle... :)

These three Sweethearts love to watch old family videos on my computer. I have been doing a better job of dating and organizing them and have uploaded many to my web site to make sure they are not lost - also saved to an off site hard drive. These are precious memories. Do not loose yours.

Grandma and Isla both having a messy hair day and a Saturday morning cuddle on the sofa. This little Miracle can count to 10!

60/365 Grandma's Office

The girls, especially Eva, seem very drawn to my office. Eva loves to sit at my desk and write. She is currently working on a very long story about twin girls. They both love to watch old home videos I have taken over the years and turned into movies... they watch them over and over again. Their favorite at this time being "Norah's Lament" a video of 3 yr old Norah playing the piano and singing away a wailing,  lamenting song of despair.... it is quite funny.
