151/365 Chocolate Milk

Chocolate milk goes with an afternoon of baking. And wasn't it a perfect day to have the oven on - it was cold out there.  It started with pizza buns which were a tad too spicy for Norah. And chocolate chip cookies followed making the perfect munch to go along with a strategy game with Uncle Harold.

150/365 It's Broken

Eva hurt her thumb while goal tending at soccer on Monday evening. When it was still swollen and sore this morning, we decided it needed an xray.
Broken!
Nothing major but this leftie won't be writing or drawing for a couple of weeks at least. And soccer season ended early. She is pretty upbeat about it all though.

149/365 Bikes.

Bike riding is such a memorable part of summer. I love that there are lots of safe trails right beside our new house. The girls can be out there riding and I can be at the kitchen sink watching them. Or out on the deck with a tall glass of lemonade, which is more preferable. :)

148/365 Happiness!

Someone had a pretty good seat at Eva's soccer game tonight. Not that she watched any of the game though. She was occupied looking at all the photos on the back of Grandma's camera and most of them were of her. She loves to flip thru them all over and over again.

147/365 Flox

The garden is starting to come alive.
I have had to do a lot of weeding since the soil hauled in last September had lots of quack grass seeds in it. Bark mulch, I have discovered, needs to be turned and fluffed to look decent after being covered in snow. And we have a lot of bark mulch in this back yard.  However, I am enjoying every minute of it! About 75% done.

144/365 Painting

Norah painted this at school yesterday. I love it! I especially love the detail of the tree.
I kept asking her if someone did the ink and she just painted it but she said no, she drew the whole thing and then painted it in. Eva has been teaching her how to outline her flowers and then paint them in this week so I guess she has caught on.
I asked her to tell me what the painting was all about. "Oh, it is just a painting" then she was out the door to ride her bike and play.
I plan to get this girl painting a whole lot more because this is going on my wall. With permission she let me put it in a matting and place it on the hall table.

143/365 Sleepover

We have had the girls since Monday and I am thankful when Grandpa walks in the door from work at the end of the day. It has been busy but fun. Tomorrow we will send them home filled with good food and lots of fun memories. I have played enough Scum for a couple of months.
Here they are on the couch, Norah reading our bird book and Eva writing secret codes ~ we are into Nancy Drew these days and are half way thru a book together.

140/365 Family

Ten if 14 of us were together this Victoria Day weekend for good times around the fire pit, meals and fellowship around the table including cards and board games.  A beautiful weekend and lots of fun and outdoor activities in the new yard.  Now we wait for the arrival of baby Cortens (#15) in a few weeks.

132/365 Dutch Growers

Today we took the girls to Dutch Growers to make a beautiful potted plant for Mom. They decorated their pot and then were shown how to plant their three plants and care for them. I was impressed with the staff at Dutch Growers. We will do this again.

122/365 Bunny

Isn't he so sweet? He looks so well fed!  He was in the back yard early one morning eating grass.
He won't be so cute when my Hosta peek thru and he starts eating them! Then it is game over buddy!
