31 of 365 Miss Eva

Miss Eva and I went for coffee at Cafe Sola this morning. Mommy was having her prenatal appointment so this seemed a good time to sit and chat for a while. Eva was more interested in my cell phone and camera then my small talk about the weather and life.  She has a very keen interest in and extraordinary know-how when it comes to all things electronic or computer.

Eva knows more about the operation of an iPad then I do. She appeared a little ticked that there wasn't an app on my phone for photos. Get with it Grandma!
She has a vocabulary of about 5 words that only her parents understand but she is proficient at texting. Although we are not quite sure what language she is texting in.
Grandpa, did you get her text?
We have also received the odd phone call from her - which her parents knew nothing about. They were sleeping at the time.

30 of 365 Another Day

Time escapes me. I can't make it slow down or better yet multiply. To have 4 more hours or an extra day. The list just doesn't fit into the allotted time and the day job keeps me an extra hour today only to arrive home to "empty the dishwasher""take your 365 shot". But no complaints. It will get done one day. Ah to leave it all for tomorrow. Not procrastination. Just time escaping and fleeing. It was a productive day. Tomorrow's list will be shorter..... I hope.

is it January 29th already?

Went next door to our neighbours for Sunday roast beef dinner with all the fixins. It started with Dave's famous "white lady".

28 of 365 More Miss Eva

...because we had her for over 24 hours and loved every minute of it. Here she is with Grandpa at the petting zoo - not sure she wants to get too close to this fellow.

24 of 365 Orchid

Well the orchid seems to like Yorkton. I brought it here and it really opened it's blooms. Or may be it is because it is warm and very dry in this apartment.

I am sure that if it could talk, it would be crying "oh thank you for taking me away from the dreadfully cold and icy window".

22 0f 365 Bling

I usually choose food or flowers for the 365 when I am too busy to come up with something creative. But since it is not the season for flowers (and will not be for 4 months) and the cupboards are bare (heading to Yorkton shortly) I have discovered my cheep jewelry from Cleo's with my macro lens gives me a decent 365 in short order.
some bling...

17 of 365 Winter

No doubting that Winter has arrived with a vengeance and plans to get more severe before easing off and giving us a reprieve.  Exposed skin will freeze in under 3 minutes tonight. So why does this photo look so innocent?

Never underestimate nature.

12 of 365 Scrabble

No home is complete without a game of scrabble so I picked a very basic one up at.... Canadian Tire. When you live in Yorkton you spend a lot of time at Walmart, Superstore and Canadian Tire. Too much time. But I am decorating on a budget here.  One day I will visit some of the other stores in Yorkton.... when I find them.

I won.... of course.

11 of 365 Lemon

They were on the glass coffee table and the setting sun shining in on them. Since the theme this week on my 365 group is yellow, it was a no brainer.
Love lemon... lots of it in todays salad dressing. :)

7 of 365 Tessa

I did a model shoot for an 18th century romance novel- involves ships and pirates, romance and, well obsession!
arrrrgh!!
And designed the cover today too. It was a very creative day. Also did a newborn shoot - 10 days old and so so sweet. I will post on my blog soon but those photos still need some editing.
Here is the heroine, Tessa. The book will be available through Kindle soon.

6 of 365 Poinsettia

I usually have a poinsettia each Christmas and take a photo of it.... but forgot. Until today, that is.
Today is my son Paul's 26th birthday. Oh my it feels like he was born only a few years ago ~ a healthy 9'6". I would have a photo of him but this dear son is 2000 km's away. We phoned.

Happy Birthday Paul!

4 of 365 Orchid Beginnings

Only 361 photos to go....
sigh....
Last April when my Dad passed away a co-worker gave me a beautiful orchid. Her thoughtfulness and kindness was such a blessing to me during a hard time. It bloomed for over a month and then the flowers faded. I followed the instructions carefully but no new blooms - not even an inkling of a new stem. I watered and fertilized it now and then when I remembered.
Last week I noticed a new stem coming out of the old dried stem with 5 maybe even 6 wee buds. I was pretty happy. It should be in full bloom by Dad's birthday on February 13th. I am blessed again.

So follow along with me as I photograph this reminder of a wonderful man.

2 of 365 Smokin'

Playing with incense tonight.

It took about 50 shots to get this.

Note to self - charge those flash batteries before you start. Set the F-stop really high. Keep the smoke away from the back ground.

Here is choice #2 - I like how the smoke actually folded back into itself.

1 of 365 Happy New Year

Well, writing 1 of 365 was done with a little hesitation I can tell ya. But after 2 years of this it looks like grabbing my camera every day seems to be a habit now. Without even thinking, after making beef bourguignon and cleaning up the kitchen, I looked at the sun streaming in the window, and thought - oh there is my 365 and grabbed my camera.... and I was at that moment committed.
So, here we go again.....

Just booked another summer wedding. It looks like it is shaping up to be a busy year of photography. :)
I am limiting myself to 5 weddings this year and no more..... just so ya know.
