120/365 Fort

What a busy month it has been! Here we are on the last day of April, and as I look back on this months photos, I  see it was a month packed full of adventure and fun. This is one of the reasons I do the 365.
When the deck furniture arrived last week, I knew I could not waste this box. It represented probably about 20 hours of good fun! So I made it into a little house for the girls. Today when I picked them up from school they insisted they go to Grandmas's house to play in the new "house". So we hauled it onto the deck, filled it with blankets and pillows and of course a snack. Nothing like peanut butter and jam on crackers along with carrots and apple slices all inside your little house.
Creating wonderful memories.

At least I think it is a Blue Heron and my Birds of Canada book seems to confirm. He was a long way off.

118/365 Deck

After two days of spring cleaning including windows, screens, decks and deck furniture and more, it was sure a huge blessing to be able to enjoy entertaining on the deck for the first time this year. This weather was so wonderful - perfect!

116/265 Swainsen's Hawk

They have returned from Argentina to breed in the swale. They love the prairies and central Saskatchewan. I have seen several of them souring through the skies in the past few days.  They are pretty far away so I really had to crop in to get this photo. I do hope they will come closer and I can get a better photo soon.
They love to eat grasshoppers and prefer mice during breeding season which is right now. I am okay with that.

There are signs of life in my back yard! Hooray!!
There is also signs of deer! I see their droppings, some chewed off branches and half eaten Mugo pines. :(

114/365 Fire Pit

We are looking forward to spending a lot of evenings in the yard this summer. It will start as soon as this wind dies down. I already have the wood ready to go, however I will need to replenish the S'mores supplies.

111/365 Sisters

The girls came for breakfast this morning wearing their home made fleece lined sweater we gave them for Christmas. And of course as soon as they finished breakfast they were outside playing. They are pretty inseparable and I love that.

110/365 Yellow Flower

Not real, but on my coffee table. It feels like spring is actually going to come. It won't be long now and I will be photographing lots of flowers - I hope. The deer have enjoyed our garden this winter. I planted three roses under my office window so I will watch them closely to see if they survived.

108/365 Treasure Hunt

I know it looks like Christmas morning but the girls had pyjama day at school and when I picked them  up after school, Uncle Harold had a treasure hunt ready for them. It was a long treasure hunt. They were having a hoot reading all the clues and figuring them out. The treasure at the end was a big chocolate princess for each of them. Then they headed outside to help Uncle Harold finish an  Olaf snow man which will likely be all melted by tomorrow.

105/365 Family Vacation

The obligatory pool shot because Grandma wants to put this one in the coffee table book!

I am putting it in the 365 for today because I didn't pick up my camera after our 1 am return to the cold north. I am not even sure I knew where my camera is today but it will surface.
Stay tuned for the usual - deer or food.

104/365 Another WestJet Pilot

When we landed in Calgary on our way home I asked Norah if she wanted to see the cockpit and she did, so she got her photo with the pilot.
Love WestJet.
You know how dark the cockpit of a plane can be at night so for you camera people, this was shot at 6400 ISO. Love my Canon 5D Mk IV

103/365 Scum!

Last Christmas the girls really wanted to learn how to play Scum. It is one of the card games that we all enjoy when we all get together. It involves strategically getting rid of all your cards. The first one to do that is the president, second is the vice president third is vice scum and last is scum. If there are more players you add neutrals. When the next hand is dealt, the scum and the vice scum have to give their very best card (2 if you are scum) to the president and vice president. The President and the vice press go into the round with better hands and the scum and vice scum go into the round with worse hands because they get the worst cards in return for the best. You don't want to be scum.
So we taught the girls and they tended to partner up with someone when they played - usually the president because it didn't take them long to figure out they wanted to be president.

We must have played this game a hundred times on vacation. The girls insisted. So we insisted they play their own hand which they did, brilliantly! In this particular photo they partnered up. They won! And they won again. These two spent more time being president then anyone else. They understood the strategy better then I did and they knew which cards to play and when not to play them. Although Norah was quick to play her ace cards too early in the beginning, she figured it out. "Not yet Norah" was often heard around the table. But it didn't take her long to clean up and go out. I would like to think they just got dealt really good cards.

I think it is time to  teach them bridge. The young mind is such a sponge for knowledge. And they retain it!!
This photo goes in the coffee table book because if we weren't in the pool, eating or sleeping we were playing Scum (or charades)!

102/365 Four Words

A round of Charades was a daily occurrence on this vacation, usually in the evening. What an hilarious time we had watching these little girls do such a good job of acting out simple phrases. But watching Mom and Dad and Grandpa and Grandma was pretty funny too! Everyone was a winner.

100/365 Happy Happy Baby

Sheesh, I have posted One Hundred 365 photos. Time is flying.
And I am enjoying all the smiles and giggles I get from Miss Isla. She sure enjoyed the pool, the sunshine, the attention and lots and lots of snuggles these past 10 days. Getting a little more confident at sitting on her own now.

99/365 Ice Cream and a Sun Hat

We ate a lot of these this week, but what a perfect treat after 2 hours in the pool!

96/365 Indian Canyons

It was a very hot day today at 37C and hotter in the sun but this gang made it through the 1 mile hike up and down the canyon. We definitely earned a jump in the pool followed by ice cream on our return to the house.

94/365 New WestJet Pilot

On our way to Palm Springs and as we left our flight in Calgary, I asked Eva if she was interested in seeing where the pilot sits. She was so I asked the pilot if she could peek in. Not only did they let her peek in but she sat in the pilots seat. Pretty fun start to our family vacation. Stay tuned because Norah got her chance on our return flight. :)
Love WestJet
