31/365 A New Paint Brush

A different kind of painting happened today. I am happy to report that all the peach has been removed from our new home. I was very overdo for a new decent paintbrush and this pretty new brush made cutting in a breeze.

I rescued this plant from the garden just before frost. We have been making good use of it. A couple of large sprigs are roasting in the oven with onion and tomatoes as I type. 

 26/365 Norwegian Viking Ship

This little ship has been in the family longer than I have belonging to my Norwegian Grandparents. The Drakkar (or "dragon ship") was a prominent Viking warship, often used by Norwegian kings and chieftains during the Viking Age (approx. 800–1100 A.D.). Known for their speed, maneuverability, and fearsome dragon-headed prows, these large, oak-planked vessels could carry extensive crews for raids and exploration.

These books were passed on to us by my brother. They were printed in 1913 and were my Grandfathers. His signature is in each one of them - 9 books in total. I am sure he read every word in them. He was a wise man. David is interested in the words and I am more interested in adding a little bit of heritage to the living room decor although I may read a little here and there.

Found this amazing kettle when we were in Texas last fall. It is the best kettle and I am loving making my tea to the perfect temperature. And it looks beautiful on my counter.

It bloomed! A gift from my brother and sister-in-law.

 19/365 Cancelled flights..... twice!  Got home 24 hrs later than our original flight. Thankful we are retired - no kids to keep happy, no jobs waiting...just a nail appointment to rebook and a lot of waiting.

The hoar frost this morning is beautiful and so I grabbed my iPhone to take a photo. My trusty camera used to be my sidekick for years but this past year has been so busy with the move that the big guy was shelved and the lighter more convenient iPhone took over. It takes okay photos. It captures the moment.

But not this morning. I needed the big camera. 

New home, new scenery, beautiful back yard and a lonely camera asking to be used. It is January of a new year. I should resurrect the 365.
