181/365 Coney Island

On the road again and heading further east to Lake of the Woods, Kenora Ontario and the family cottage on Coney Island. The lake was so cold but you get used to it after 10 minutes or so! Then it is warm up time on the sand. Isla had such a great time with the sand. Love that little smile for the camera.

180/365 Family!

Today was the memorial service for Mom and Dad followed by a reception lunch and then a great time of visiting over pizza back at the hotel courtyard. There were cousins and second cousins and plenty of little girls to play with. It was great fun and wonderful memories. Many new friends were made.

179/365 Assiniboine Park Zoo

Next on the list was the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Unfortunately the Polar Bears were not out  and swimming but the seals were.

178/365 Manitoba Children's Museum

We are in Winnipeg at my parents memorial and a family reunion - 65 of us! We spent a few hours down at the Forks visiting the Children's Museum. The girls had so much fun. Worth a visit and plan at least 2 hours there.

177/365 Hair Cut Day

Finally got Norah's hair trimmed.
Yeah, it was much more exciting next door at Mastermind Toys where we chose 17 little toys for all the second cousins we will be seeing in two days.

176/365 Eating in the Rain

It was a cool rainy day for Norah's grade 1 class at Kinsmen Park today but they still had a grand time. We will definitely go back this summer on a warmer day. My role was to just show up and take Isla back for lunch and a nap so I got off easy. :)

175/365 Adventures With Norah

We were supposed to have a hair appointment today but the salon somehow lost our appointment. :( So instead we went to Dairy Queen and then hung out at the Forestry Farm for a while. We explored and imagined and jumped on rocks and climbed and had a wonderful time of make believe. Norah is a girl after my own heart.

Isla was pretty tickled to be playing the guitar with Grandpa! Isla loves music!!

173/365 Rainy Day Fun

The rain was steady all day so after Grandpa's pancakes this morning we spent the day playing cards, doing a lot of art and reading five more chapters in our book - The Secret Garden. We are all enjoying the story and are on page 324 of 550 pages! Yikes it's a long book.

Woke up very early this morning to a very beautiful foggy sunrise and I am glad I did.

Isla learned how to use a shovel today. We had lots of fun and a bubble bath when she got home.

I took Eva for a haircut today and oh my, she is looking so grown up! We had a great day together.

167/365 Dedicated to the Lord

Lucy's baby dedication was this Sunday and we were blessed to be there. She has a wonderful community supporting her and her parents in prayer and for that we are eternally thankful.

Lucy did a fine job of eating her special birthday cake lovingly made by her Mom, who is well known for her delicious cakes.

I have done 14 digital scrapbook pages in the past three days.
This page is from a family reunion in 1964. I am always amazed that all the mothers in the photo have skinny waists and are wearing dresses and pearls. We are at the lake here.

We eat so well - for which I am thankful. Tonights meal - bbq'd pork chops, beans and a salad with home make cilantro lime vinaigrette. I have been busy with the cilantro since it has taken off in my herb garden. Made a cilantro pesto yesterday too.

Spent most of the day with this delightful little one. We are starting to have little conversations now.

159/365 Piano Recital

Eva's end of year piano recital was in her teachers backyard. Other then a little wind, it was a perfect setting and Eva played her pieces very well. Good thing they were memorized because the wind was having fun with other students music.

Eva climbed to the very top of the climbing structure....in a dress. :)

Isla was over again today and we headed to the park. She has discovered throwing sand....with both hands. We headed home for a bath shortly after.

156/365 It is Summer!

Isla spent the afternoon with me. She didn't want to nap. She wanted to play in the back yard. We had a great time pulling the grass out and watching it fly off in the wind.

She is starting to look more and more like a toddler....and is acting like one too! "No" is a common word these days especially when we want her to show off her new skills. But I think her feistiness will be a big plus for her in the years to come.

153/365 Back Yard BBQ

What a wonderful day! Thankful for perfect weather and enough shade and breeze. A back yard wiener roast with over 40 people ( half of them kids), Badminton with new cool giant badminton rackets, Bocci ball and then water balloons to cool off with. Then there were the giant sprinklers going off in the park next door. We sent home some pretty soaked but well fed kids, :)
Feeling blessed.

152/365 Lemonade Break

It has been a busy full week of weeding, planting, moving bark mulch and cleaning but the yard is ready and we paused with some lemonade today to enjoy it. Over 40 people are due tomorrow for a fire pit wiener roast. We are looking forward to fun and fellowship. We are ready for the summer!
