235/365 Four Year Olds

I could photograph four year olds for hours. They are so much fun and so interesting and they make the most wonderful faces. And they are willing to do almost anything you ask them to.
Yup! Love them!

Maternity shoot with Sam's family today. He's going to be a big brother!

233/365 Apple Pie

I brought home a bag of apples given me from a co-worker. I planned to make apple jelly because that is the easiest way to use all these apples without having to peel them all..... and I am lazy that way.
However my husband smiled and said "Apple pie?" when he saw them.

So I decided to make him an apple pie. I mean how hard can it be to peel 15 small apples? I planned to use the frozen tender flake pie crusts in the freezer.... I am lazy that way too.... but discovered there weren't any in the freezer!!

So I even made my own pie crust. It has been years, many years, since I made my own pie crust. I forgot how easy it was.

The pie was absolutely delicious and the crust light and flakey. It was the perfect thing to do on a rainy day. That and throw a pork roast in the slow cooker to smell all day. :)

232/365 Hop Scotch

I taught the girls how to play hopscotch today ...sort of.
Then we went for ice cream at Dairy Queen because Grandma had a hankering.
Next up was the back yard for more fun in the pool. We worked up a good appetite for supper then I handed them back - one was sleeping. :)

229/365 Red Lily

For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--His eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. Romans 1:20

228/365 Family Photos

Turned out to be a perfect day despite the weatherman's threats!
So here is one family of the big gang of 15 I  photographed today.
Kim, I so enjoyed your boys! They were such thoughtful, polite and fun young men as well as very helpful when I needed equipment.

I think I have enough beautiful poses of this sweetheart to do a gallery show.

224/365 Dragonfly

Did you know that a dragonfly's eyes have 30,000 lenses and they can see all the way around? Yet they actually have poor eyesight. They can't see details too well.

I took a bike ride with my camera to the forestry farm today.

I wish they lived closer together.

222/365 Feeling Blessed

222/365 Feeling Blessed
(sorry, feeling wordy tonight)
I am just pausing today to give thanks for so many blessing in my life. Yeah it was a busy day at work , but it flew by and I got to help people - pretty great!
Coming home and having to make supper ~ well I could complain about that but hey there was food in the fridge - good food. I am thankful about that.
It only took the two of us 20 minutes to throw together a gourmet meal to eat on the deck. I am thankful about that.
There were many years where supper meant feeding 6 of us on a tight budget and it wasn't BBQ pork chops. It likely involved pasta or hamburger. And it was in a tiny little kitchen. How did we do it? :)
I am thankful that I can eat in peace, on the deck, listening to the birds. I didn't get up once.....okay once to go get my camera. :)
I am thankful that the two of us can be done supper dishes in under 10 minutes with tomorrows lunches made.

And I am thankful for all those years full of crazy times, busy meals, hungry children and a messy kitchen. I wouldn't change a day of it.

I also completely understand why the good Lord had me go through all that crazy busyness in my 20's and 30's.

Feeling blessed.

Glasses from Grandma's tickle trunk.

217/365 House Finch

A scraggly House Finch who looks like I feel after a day at work. I probably look like this too. :)
But what do I know about birds? Not much!

The closest I can find in my new Bird's of Canada is the House Finch - the male breeding House Finch that is. Technically he should not be found this far north.
He was much more interesting then all the Chickadees and Chipping Sparrows in my back yard this evening.

216/365 My Princesses

Sure enjoyed my 10 days with these two little ones but it wasn't long enough and it needs to be more often.

215/365 Black-capped Chickadee

Filled the bird feeders today along with a couple of hours of weeding, tree trimming and general yard maintenance.
I am amazed at how fast they return when there are fresh seeds for them.
