Yes, another Saskatoon graduate. This is Kenzie. Isn't she beautiful? Love this gorgeous shimmery dress. I photographed Kenzie and her family several years ago when she was a young teenager. Now she is a young independent woman headed to University this falls with plans to enter Nursing.
Congratulations Kenzie!

178/365 The Zoo Train

The train held way more appeal then the animals to this 3 year old.
Except maybe the turkeys running around. Yeah they were pretty funny.
But that grizzly bear? Get me outta here Grandma!

Twice around on the train!

addendum.... Today (Sunday) Eva pointed out that our zoo does not have any elephants!

174/365 Lilac

Well the lilac tree is finally blooming and the rain has taken a break so  I ran out for a very quick photo and was eaten by about 200 mosquitoes!

Still, the back yard looks fantastic right now and the we are enjoying the incredible scent.

173/365 Aiden Graduate

Another beautiful graduate today.

This is Aiden. What a lovely, sweet and very beautiful young woman destined to big things. Aiden will be starting her Agriculture degree in September.
So it kind of made sense to photograph her in the Agriculture building on campus given the pouring rain out there today.

172/365 Ty Graduate

This is Ty and he is celebrating his graduation from grade 12 with friends today. Not your usual grad photo but this is the way Ty wanted it - just with his friends, no suit, no formalities. He just wanted to hang out with his friends and get a photo on his quad.
So given Ty's nontraditional, casual attitude and his very cool, fun loving friends, I decided to add a little fun to the processing.

Here it is in colour - which do you prefer? Or should we keep them both?

166/365 Denee Graduate

What an absolutely stunning young lady. I have photographed Denee several times - as a young girl with her family, as a karate kid doing leaps, and now as a grown woman about to graduate from high school. I feel blessed to be a part of these life events.
And despite the rain today, we captured some incredible photos of her. The rain even let up for an hour and we were able to get outside for some casual photos.
More to come, but here is one of today's photos.

Please click on the photo to see the details.
And do feel free to leave a comment.

164/365 Sarah Graduate

This is Sarah.
She is beautiful inside and out and has a wonderful story. If life weren't busy enough with graduation happening, Sarah was her class Valedictorian, took home 5 or was it 6 awards at awards ceremonies, planned the graduates supper and all this while being Mom to one year old Isaac. She has a lot on her plate.

Hope to post more of her graduation photos soon  - including sweet photos of Isaac.

Remember to click on the photo to see is much larger and much clearer. Thanks!

163/365 David - Graduate

I don't think I have ever seen such a WOW suit on a man ever before. We photographed this grade 12 graduate down by the river, but when he got out of his car and I saw that suit, and the perfect fit and his physique and the gorgeous brown leather shoes, the perfect tie and belt... well I thought we should be photographing him on the streets of New York City!

But we weren't in New York! We were in Saskatchewan in the tall grasses by the river.

This is David. He has graduated from grade 12 and is on his way to the U of S where he will start an Arts degree with plans to be in medicine in three years. I have no doubt he will make it and do well. David was such a thoughtful and so well mannered young man, it was such a pleasure to photograph him.

It was really hard to choose one for the 365 so I will post several on a blog post soon.
Please click on the photo to see it in original size and for clarity.

153/365 Discovered

Felt so blessed to come home from work and have supper on the deck this evening. Remembering the months of driving to and from work in the dark and thankful for every moment of sun right now.
Even more blessed when I traded my dishes in for my camera and sat silently watching the birds discover all the nutritious treats in the back yard. They are starting to show up - even when I am sitting right there.

152/365 Hosta

Today we cleaned out the birdbaths and filled them with fresh water and hung four various types of bird feeders about the back yard.
We also planted a few more hosta's and finished planting the flower pots. It's looking fine back there.
David headed into watch the hockey game and I sat back quietly on the deck with my long lens. waiting for a 365 photo of a bird.

This is what I got 30 minutes later.

I guess I  am just going to have to wait until the news is out in the weekly Bird Journal that the Cortens' back yard is the place to be!
