335 of 365 Eva

We took the girls to the mall today. You gotta love underground parking. Eva is so good about sitting in her car seat and making sure she is buckled in. Grabbed this photo of her as we were leaving. Believe it or not the lighting in the parkade was very cool.

sigh... she is so beautiful and she sits and poses for me. What more could this photographer grandma ask for?

332 of 365 Gymnastics

Eva is getting a lot braver at gymnastics Tuesday mornings and that makes for a whole lot more smiles as she discovers how easy and fun it all is. She now has the spunk to climb out of her crib which means life at her house has changed a little and her parents are a little more tired.

As Canadians I would say we are pretty darn good at finding creative ways to make use of the white stuff.

Can you spot it?

327 of 365 Miss Eva

She is not posing for me here. This is just a brief, thoughtful moment distracted by grandpa.

She still lets me hug her and kiss her.

326 of 365 Miss Norah

She sits all by herself now....and you know what that means for her grandma the photographer. Also note that every time I ask her sister if I can take her photo I get a pretty definitive "NO"
So expect a lot of Miss Norah until Eva is past her camera shy phase.

323 of 365 Pure JOY!!

Miss Eva is just beside herself with laughter as Uncle Mark makes some snowballs and throws them at the fence. It finally warmed up enough for some of that snow to get good and sticky.

321 of 365 Sweet!

Guys night out at the movies so I decided to make a mess.  I had the shot in less then 10 minutes from set up to clean up. The only miscalculation was the size of the bowl to catch the sugar. I had to do a little vacuuming!

320 of 365 mmmmmm

Our son the firefighter/paramedic/reservist/workout guru and health foodie cooked supper again tonight. Baked salmon with dried tomato pesto, steamed green beans and rice/wild rice medley.

He should move back home!

319 of 365 Something to go with supper...

Good thing I got this on the first shot because white wine is just not the same at room temperature.

It went with this....

Chicken cacciatore  and Quinoa a la Mark. Yes my fireman/paramedic/cook is home and I am enjoying the fruits of his labour which was a real treat to come home to after work today. Why is this good looking young man not married!!!!

Grabbed Brian for my 365 shot as the gang was leaving Bible Study tonight. Still not overly happy with my lighting set up but I am getting there.

316 of 365 Lest We Forget

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

315 of 365 Bokeh

Playing with bokeh and studio lighting - tricky since bokeh likes it dark and  portraiture needs to be well lit.  I need about 15 more feet of living room.

314 of 365 Twelve Inches by Sunday?

Sigh....
The commute home from work today was a little stressful but it only promises to get worse so we plan to stay put all weekend. Highways are shutting down. Thankful my husband is not trying to drive home from Yorkton.

313 of 365 Peace & Light

I am looking forward to Christmas and I aim to make it as calm, peaceful and Christ centred as I can. Because life gets way too complicated, busy, stressful and just plain crazy the rest of the time.

312 of 365 New York Times

Life has been throwing some curve balls and we are both working long days so sitting on the couch doing the NY Times crossword while I upload a photo is in order tonight. The dishes may not get done.

311 of 365 Power

How much battery power does one photographer need? A lot it seems.
Sorry for the lame shot. One of those days when the 365 became something on the desk before calling it a night.

309 of 365 Those Eyes

...just capture my heart. Miss Norah is very sick with a stomach flu. It is going on 4 days and we are concerned. Trying to keep her hydrated and hope her little body recovers soon.
Prayers appreciated.

Caught her in a more thoughtful mood tonight..... like "Where is my Mommy?"
We had a sleepover last night.

307 of 365 SNOW

Woke up to the sound of shovels this morning. It may be a long winter....

I have my studio lights set up in the living room so I decided to play around with them today.
Harold was a willing subject, sort of.... for 10 minutes.

Hey if you are looking for a portrait, give me a call. I will have the "studio" set up for as long as I can.... until my husband says he wants the living room back. :)
Ladies, how about a little black book with some delightful photos in it to put in that special's someones's stocking?

306 of 365 Canon 5D Mk III

The Canon 5D Mk 3 came on the market this summer. It has faster/better auto focus, 6fps and a few other rather desirable features - my fav being the silent shutter (weddings!). It also came with a hefty price tag ~ $3400. I love my 5D Mk II ( I have 2 of them because I shoot weddings) and they are relatively new.  I couldn't justify the price of the Mk III and the Mk II produces fabulous photos for me. It is after all more about the photographer then the camera right?

Took this photo of my 5D Mk II with my...... 5D Mk II. :)

But today Canon announced a sudden drop in price of the Mk III.... to just under $3000. Word on the street is they are getting stiff competition with Nikon D800, D600 and Canon's up coming D6. So will this price last??? Probably not. Should I sell one of my Mk II's? And get the Mk III?
My husband says go for it.
I love this guy!

Anyone interested in my Mk II - a fabulous camera!  I paid $2700.00 for it. The Mk II has dropped too. Sells for $1900.00 with a $200 Canon rebate at Don's right now. But that price probably won't last. If you were thinking of the Mk II and wanted it new, you won't see it go much lower then that for a long time. But if you want a used one in great condition I may sell it for $1400.00 - I have two of them that I switch out so it hasn't had as much use as you might think. I have ALL the original packaging - battery and battery charger too.
