26/365 Birdfeeder
It was a close one tonight!
I was heading up to bed after spending almost five hours after work today on photos (burning, editinig, printing, framing - but not taking). I was also coming to the conclusion that Lacie Lightscribe for burning images to the top of your DVDs is useless and I will spend yet another rushed lunch hour tomorrow returning it. I have spent too many hours in front of a computer downloading drivers to get the thing working and was still very disappointed with the results.
I digress.
On the way to bed..... I noticed the motion detecting flood light at the back door was on. The wind was blowing things around. There was the bird feeder rocking in the wind and I noticed how beautiful the now red Virginia Creeper looks at night with the flood lights on it. Yes very pretty, almost worth a picture. PICTURE????
Oh dang!!
So here is the cold, almost empty, cob web covered bird feeder in the back yard. I took four shots and picked the best one because it is COLD out there!
Now I am going to bed!

25/365 Signs of winter
Oh my, over a 1000 visitors in 24 days. Thanks!
It REALLY feels like winter out there. I wanted to somehow catch the shivers and the wind and the rustling leaves on the street, but I didn't.
The deck at Chianti's however looked barren and cold. No chairs, just leaves blowing around and forming little piles here and there and cold empty tables.
Shot through some pretty dirty glass I might add. Had I not been in a skirt and heels I would have climbed up on the ledge for a non glass perspective.

23/365 tomatoes
Oh look! It must be August; the tomatoes are ripening!
I am enjoying the harvest especially since not one came from my own garden. I harvested weeds a few weeks back.
Another commentary on our strange summer ~tomatoes a month late and the fact that we broke record high temperatures here in Saskatchewan this last week of September.

22/365 Oaks
I spent the first 21 years of my life on Elm street, right next to Oak st and Ash st. There were far more Oak trees on my street then Elm trees. Since I rarely see Oak trees in Saskatoon, it was a pleasure today to see this one and be reminded of that beautiful shady street that I grew up on with its 120 yr old Oak trees, millions kids and huge piles of leaves every fall.
I have a couple of other photos I took today on my other blog....cause I HAVE to pick just one but I like the others too.
The things that happen when you drag your camera around with you all day.

21/365 Prairie Grass
Oh it was tough to choose today because I also got a great shot of the sunrise early this morning. But the blue skies of today's record breaking weather won out.
And wasn't it an incredibly beautiful fall day.
These flag poles (is that what they are?) have never really impressed me as far as art goes, but today against the beautifully deep blue skies I kind of like them.
A brief stroll and an ice cream down at Rivers Landing with my camera made for nice lunch break.
Shouldn't have worn heels today! ouch!
ps - read the comments for an explanation of the title.

20/365 September sunset.
Today's photo was a bit of a chore. Or should I say challenge! With 345 more to go, I am starting to fade, but that is probably because it was not a good day.
I have been sick in bed ALL day! I even missed work for the first time in my life! EVER!!
I would have taken a photo of the Gravol package however I promised myself that today's photo would not be another upclose/macro shot. I know y'all loved the toilet paper. I have discovered that macro shots of food are my forte.... so I am trying to avoid them.
To get my non macro, dear husband and I went for a short spin in the car tonight to deliver a house cooling gift to our daughter and son-in-law. (It was an ice cream cake) Cool eh? :) haha pun intended. Forgive me but my brain is a little out of sorts tonight. Gravol?
We are home and my 365 day photo is posted and now I am off to bed to sleep.... some more.
Somebody please feed the fish.

19/365 paper essentials
Having trouble getting the creative process working after a long day.
My husband wants to help.
"Here, I have a subject for you" He hands me an old vinyl football.
"Did the Roughriders win yesterday?" I ask.
"No!"
"So why do I want to photograph this?"
"Just put it on something green." .... and he goes on to describe the last two minutes of the game.
I will humor him. (are you reading this dear?)
I try to find a creative perspective of the football. It is boring. I need a flashlight. Off to the den to get my little light, I pass the bathroom on the way.
Three shots. That's all it took!
PS Charlie has recovered. He gets to stay!

18/365 drip...drip....drip
Ah yes, well tonight's photo was supposed to be simple since I have been sleeping with my camera all weekend. Stepped outside because I had a yen to photograph something wet and dirty (vs a white, clean and sparkling wedding dress).
It looked simple, but at 6:30 pm I was loosing light. An hr later, a flash light, slow shutter and ISO of 600 with a steady arm lying on my front steps getting dirty ..and thar she is!
Something for my husbands to do list because this old tap badly needs replacing! Looking for a friend with a soldering tool. um Larry?
Anybody noticed Charlie the green fish? He seems stuck in the corner. I will give him a day but I may have to flush him. He hasn't eaten all day.

17/365 two shall become one.
My camera has been at my side all day. Or hanging from my neck. But mostly on my face. Good thing I like my camera. My flash however hogs a lot of battery power! But it does the job well.
The damage today - 7.9 Gb - about 720 photos. Been going since 9am this morning. But having fun of course!
...leave a comment...let me know you were here and not just a number on my stat counter.

15/365 strummin'
I was without my camera all day today.
Last minute effort here with a high contrast B&W and some fun lighting.
Coming up with creative last minute photos is why I am doing this challenge. But can I keep it up for another 350 days?
Comments do help.

10/365 Local Motion
Motion in photography is so cool! The train was flying passed me and I couldn't see this guy until I took this photo with a slower shutter - and there he was, waiting on the other side.
The camera caught what the eye couldn't see.
Whiterock, BC, down at the water in the evening. Shutter at 1/10th sec F 6.3
Throwing this one in for fun so you can see the difference a slight change in shutter speed can make. Shutter 1/4 sec but at F13. the red blotch is actually the train lights on the other side of the train.

9/365 spider
When you are walking though dense lush forests you tend to look for big things. You know, big overbearing fir trees, bears and well, big things. However my eye caught the early morning sun finding it's way through the foliage to a spider web.
A little closer look and I knew it was time to change from that versatile wide angle zoom to the macro prime 50 mm(2.2) lens. I was just kicking myself for not having my tripod or my large flash which is great for off camera lighting, but hey you do what you have to do and I can only make my Sherpa carry so much!
Click on him to see him in all his glorious detail, hairy legs and all. Then be sure to come back so you can leave a comment.

8/365 Stepping Heavenward
It was very difficult to choose just one photo today because today was filled with incredible photo ops at Crescent beach and the 1000 steps to the ocean here in Whiterock, B.C. This is a photo of our climb back up the 1000 steps of which there are actually only 232.

1/365 Night Light
This is day one.
Motivated by a post on Digital Photography School, I am taking up the challenge to photograph some aspect of my life every day.
For 365 days.
So today begins the journey.
Thanks for coming along.
I will do my best to make it fun, funny, weird and probably, hopefully, interesting.
may my life never be boring.
I was out photographing the full moon without a tripod - it doesn't work too well. But the lights on the front of the house caught my attention.
... and the spider web.
